Merry Christmas

and a speleotastic new year to you all. Here at the labs we have two new year's resolutions:

-Deliver on our promise for new precision hydration receptacles. Oh yes, they are definitely coming and they are rather marvellous;

-Produce a rather bargainous beanie hat so you can look all trendy, caving minded and warm eared.

Both make ideal retrospective Christmas presents. OK, so the timing coud be better... In the meantime, make sure you continue to get your daily dose of fun.

New Words

We've had a couple of suggestions for the speleo-dictionary - 'fa-faffing' and 'greb' - see here. We've also added a photo of a particularly good glommer. Keep them coming.

At Last!

For a while now we've had a page on the site which is there to showcase a range of objects worthy of the Speleolabs seal of approval - see here. And we've had a number entries, ranging from a ferret cage, a heating duct, through to a cross channel ferry. But really nothing with the ambition and cool factor that characterises the Speleolabs brand. That changed this week. Yes, at last something to give a flavour of the standard of what we're looking for - our very own Red Arrow:

Or 'high speed government sponsored acrobatic aviation vehicle' as we would call it. It would certainly make the trip to Yorkshire quicker. A large version is available on the website. OK, we think this throws down the speleo-gauntlet. Get your thinking wellies on.

Congratulations!

to Southampton University, for winning the first annual Speleolabs 'Beer Pong' competition, held at CHECC 2003. The picture shows our MD and the president of Reading University Caving Club toasting their success. This is a particularly impressive feat given the rivals for the title and the appearance of the dreaded Speleolabs 'Bingemaster Headflush' in the final round (see below). Gentlemen, we salute you, and hope to see you next year.
